mercy on you.” At that, the man “went out and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and they were all amazed.” This man, who was tormented by evil spirits, lived in the tombs because the community had ostracized him. We don’t know how long this had been going on, why it started, or whether he had a faith background. What we do know though is that “Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains, he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones” (Mark 5:5).
